Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 October 2026
These terms apply to businesses that use lumex.id ("the service") to verify the identity of their users. By opening an account or using the API, you agree to them.
1. The service
lumex.id provides a hosted verification flow and an API that capture a national ID card or passport with a live camera, read its code lines, check liveness and compare the user's face with the document photo. Results are returned to you in your dashboard and by webhook.
2. Your account
Keep your API keys and login secret. You are responsible for activity under your account. Use test keys for testing and live keys only in production.
3. Your responsibilities
- Have a lawful reason to verify each user, and tell your users why you are asking.
- Comply with the privacy and data protection laws that apply to you and your users.
- Use the results only to verify identity for your own service.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use the service to track, monitor or profile people, to identify people without their knowledge, to discriminate unlawfully, or to verify people on behalf of a third party without our written agreement. You may not try to reverse engineer, overload or bypass the service's security.
5. Fees
- Membership is $19 per month and includes 50 checks each month. Unused checks do not carry over.
- Additional checks cost $0.20 each. White-label checks cost $0.39 each.
- One check is one complete verification: document scan, liveness and face match.
- Fees are billed monthly in advance for the membership and in arrears for additional checks. We will give 30 days' notice before changing prices.
6. Results
A result is a risk assessment based on the images captured. No verification method is perfect. You decide how to act on a result, and you should send unclear cases to manual review.
7. Data processing
For verifications, you decide why personal data is processed and we process it on your behalf, as described in our Privacy Policy and Biometric Data Notice. Images are deleted once the result is decided.
8. Availability
We work to keep the service available and secure, but it is provided as is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
10. Ending the service
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. When an account closes, we delete its results within 30 days.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. We will notify you of material changes before they take effect.
